Calcutta-style goldwork is built hollow and worked fine. The result is a piece that reads as substantial on the counter and on the neck, at a fraction of the gold weight a solid equivalent would carry.
For a retailer that is the whole argument: a lower price point, a lighter piece the customer will actually wear, and more stock on the shelf for the same metal outlay. It is the only thing this workshop has made since 1999.
